Top Results at The Hurlingham Academy

Celebrations are underway at The Hurlingham Academy in Hammersmith and Fulham, as students secure an impressive set of GCSE results.

This year, a tremendous 93% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 88% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects. At the higher levels, nearly half (48%) of all students achieved a grade 7 or above in English and maths.

Across a broader range of subjects, the school also performed well:

• 96% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in either English Literature or Language, with 72% achieving grade 7 or above;
• 89% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in maths, with 52% achieving grade 7 or above;
• In Chemistry, Physics and Biology, 100% of students achieved a grade 6 or above;
• In Spanish, 100% of students achieved a grade 5 or above, with 65% achieving grade 7 or above;
• In History, 98% of students achieved a grade 5 or above, with 89% achieving grade 7 or above.

In addition to the overall school success, many of students are celebrating particularly strong achievements. This includes:

• Adem Yahiaoui, who achieved 11 grade 9s;
• Jesse Rivero Vela, who achieved ten grade 9s;
• Adam Kebbouche and Ezana Teshome, who both achieved ten grade 9s and one grade 8;
• Mohannad Abdulla, Mischa Jim-Lawson and Danna Cassandra Acain, who each achieved nine grade 9s and two grade 8s;
• Zaynab Rhouzzal, who achieved eight grade 9s and four grade 8s;
• Jacopo Pirani, who achieved seven grade 9s and four grade 8s.

Commenting on this year’s results, Leon Wilson, Principal at The Hurlingham Academy, said:  

“This summer’s GCSE achievements firmly cement the progress we have made over the past five years and reflect our determination to become an ‘Outstanding’ school for the community we serve.

“Despite the recent challenges of the pandemic, students and staff have been resolute in their commitment to high standards and even higher levels of ambition – something which has shone through in the proportion of students achieving excellent grades in both English and maths.

“I could not be prouder of our young people and have every confidence that these GCSE grades are just the first step of what will be successful futures for them all. We can’t wait to see what they will achieve at Sixth Form and beyond.”
