The Hurlingham Academy students perform Macbeth
The Hurlingham Academy students performed Macbeth to a spell-bound audience over two nights, Thursday and Friday 28 February and 1st March. The performance started in the darkened school courtyard with witches chanting "Fair is foul and foul is fair" to a watchful audience. Guests later moved into the Main Hall for the start of the play. Ms Mackay and the rest of the Drama department were supported during the planning phase and in rehearsals by LAMDA so the show had a thoroughly professional feel about it. The backstage team used a mood-enhancing sound-track, vibrant images and compelling video on a large screen as well as clever lighting techniques to create a sense of foreboding. The acting was fantastic in this abridged version of the famous play. The Hurlingham Academy Principal Mr Wilson said, "The performance was a credit to all the hard work by teachers and students to bring Shakespeare to a wide audience in an innovative way".
