Pupil Premium

The UK government's Pupil Premium is additional funding for state schools to help disadvantaged pupils achieve better outcomes by closing the attainment gap with their peers, supporting high-quality teaching, targeted academic help, and tackling non-academic barriers to success.

At The Hurlingham Academy, we believe that a child’s background should have no bearing on their academic achievement. This is reflected in our outstanding outcomes for students eligible for the Pupil Premium. In 2019, our Progress 8 score for our Pupil Premium students with +0.52, well above the national average score for this group of -0.03. This means that on average Pupil Premium students at the Hurlingham achieve half a grade higher in each of their subjects compared to other students nationally with similar starting points

We are fiercely proud that we have established an environment that promotes achievement for all and enables students to buck national trends. Our culture of high expectations provides an environment where pupils both are challenged and want to push themselves is central to this success. We also ensure that we are strategic and rigorous in our spending of the government’s Pupil Premium grant, the details of which can be found on this page.
