Cultural Capital Trips!

On Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th July, the entire school ventured into London to experience the rich culture and history our capital city has to offer. Students, grouped in their houses along with their house tutors, went out in groups of 25 to ten different locations in London.

Students had fantastic opportunities to broaden their horizons: from delving into the complex history of the British monarchy at the Tower of London, to considering the value of contemporary art at the Tate Modern; from learning about life on board the HMS Belfast during World War Two, to unlocking the mystery of the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum; from learning all about the effects of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes at the Natural History Museum, to reflecting upon how war has changed at the Imperial War Museum.

The two days really were an invaluable experience for staff and students alike, and here at the academy we are hugely proud with the both the engagement shown by students in their learning at the venues, as well as their exemplary behaviour. The number of comments from members of the public on the way in which the students conducted themselves is real testament to them. You’ve made the school very proud.
