The taste of Hurlingham

On Thursday the 18th of October, parents, students and members of the community were welcomed into the Hurlingham Academy for a special evening celebrating the many wonderful and diverse cultures present in the academy.   Year 7, 8 and 9 students kicked off the evening with a performance on the drums led by Emmanuel the Magnificent, a professional musician who'd run workshops on African drumming with Year 7s throughout the day.  Head of Music, Mr Connaugh Clarke then led the Choir in a beautiful rendition of Wade in the Water.  Visitors walked around and viewed an exhibition of artwork and essays created by tutor groups to celebrate black athletes who inspire young people to "Be the best".   The evening culminated in a feast of international dishes prepared by staff and parents which was laid out in the canteen for all to enjoy.
