Year 7s achieve 2nd and 3rd place at Borough Athletics Competition

Year 7 students arrived at Hammersmith Academy on Monday afternoon confident of achieving something special.

The girls track relay started the proceedings and students Ashley, Nubia, Anais, and Bailey won the first race with relative ease. The boys did not disappoint and won their heat without really breaking a sweat. The afternoon was then split into track and field events. The girls continued to impress and motivate each other as their PE teacher, Mr Pudney stood in as a triple jump judge.

The resilience of the girls was fantastic to witness and when they finished 2nd and 3rd, they pushed themselves on in the next race to ensure they scored better.  The boys competed well in shot put, vertical jump, and speed bounce.  Like the girls, on the track Year 7 boys absolutely dominated their group, winning every race against Hammersmith Academy.

Overall, the Hurlingham Academy Year 7 girls achieved 3rd place out of 7, and the boys finished 2nd out of 5 teams.
