Extra-Curricular Activities

At The Hurlingham Academy, we are committed to the development of the whole child. This includes promoting their understanding of the wide range of cultural influences that have shaped their own heritage and those of others. Learning experiences outside of the classroom in the form of structured extra-curricular activities are a key part of achieving this. The school takes advantage of its geographical location to run trips throughout the year to museums, galleries and other places of cultural significance in central London. This culminates in our ‘Cultural Capital’ week at the beginning of July, where every pupil is given the opportunity to visit at least two culturally significant locations in the capital, promoting an understanding of their role as citizens of London, modern Britain and the world. We also promote cultural appreciation and a love of reading for pupils through opening our library every day, where students have access to a wide range of titles.

The academy also enjoys a vibrant sporting culture, with both girls and boys from across all year groups representing us in competition in a variety of sports. These include, but are not limited to: football, handball, rugby and athletics. The academy places considerable emphasis on the value of sport as a means of promoting self-confidence, personal development, and pride in one’s school.

The Hurlingham Academy is committed to constant self-improvement regarding its extra-curricular offer. If you would like to discuss our offer further, including opportunities for volunteer coaching, please get in touch with Tamsin Grainger, Assistant Principal with responsibility for Enrichment.
