The Hurlingham Academy Ethos

Every student at The Hurlingham Academy matters, and we work hard to ensure each pupil fulfils their potential and achieves the highest possible academic outcomes. Our students leave
us as motivated individuals with a clear direction in life, a love of learning, and a sense of vocation. They leave wellprepared to find employment in the future and to make a full and valuable contribution to society.

This pursuit of academic and vocational excellence drives all that we do but it is not our only goal. We believe that the ‘whole child’ matters and work hard to teach our students the value of character and the truth that ‘who’ they are is more important than what they know or can do. We provide a range of contexts - trips, assemblies and experiences in which students can develop their leadership and grow their character. Our students are encouraged and challenged to be honest, respectful, kind, resilient and to be a force for good in their communities.

As a smaller school we have been able to effectively build a strong and cohesive community in which the older students look after the younger students. There is a genuine sense of respect and consideration for each other that unites our student body and creates a learning environment in which all students thrive and that visitors enjoy coming into.
