Homework Resources

Ensuring that learning opportunites outside of the classroom are easy & simple to access is key to supporting our students. Within this page are all the main links & apps needed for further learning & homework assignments. If you require support with any of the sites, please reach out to the IT team who can assist.

Satchel One

Planning personal work time is a life skill we wish our students to leave the Hurlingham Academy confident in. Satchel One works as your child's personal diary, highlighting all the homework information for their upcoming assignments. This can be accessed by both pupils & parents, to enable collaborative planning to complete all homework within the allotted time.

Bedrock Learning

For our KS3 students, Bedrock Vocabulary is offered to bridge the literacy gap to ensure all pupils achieve the best possible academic results for themselves. Each week, students are expected to complete tasks to create confident readers & writers headed into KS4. This will create the framework to transform language learning & proactively address vocabulary development.

Sparx

For our KS3 & KS4 students, Sparx is a homework platform for Maths, English & Science.

For Maths, the site provides personalised learning for pupils that targets the areas in which they need improvement. Each week, students are expected to achieve 100% on their compulsory homework. We encourage pupils to attempt additional boost & target questions to further their learning, setting them up for the best GCSE results possible in KS4.

For English, the site focuses on improving students' reading comprehension & understanding of books. Students can select from books tailored to their personal reading levels. Pupils must achieve at least 400 Sparx reading points every week as part of their compulsory learning. This will ensure all our students have excellent literacy skills, allowing for a smooth transition to GCSE.

Seneca Learning

Seneca Learning is an online resource used by our History, Geography & RE departments. The platform offers curriculum-focused content through interactive lessons & quizzes, supporting students in retaining key subject knowledge. Our teachers can set pupils assignments on Seneca & may do so to reinforce learning from lessons.

Language Nut

Our MFL Department uses Language Nut to supplement the pupils' learning & will set homework on the platform to reinforce teaching. The platform uses interactive games to encourage language learning, with a focus on remembering vocabulary. It is a great way to boost speaking & reading skills for foreign languages, as Language Nut will regularly test memory through constant repetition within the games.

Focus on Sound

Our resource & homework platform for Music is Focus on Sound. Focus on Sound provides structured lessons to KS3 & KS4 music students, as well as teaching general skills in music theory & instrument understanding. Our teachers can set homework & track student progress on the platform. The resource is also available to pupils wishing to strengthen their learning through exam-style practice questions.

Pearson Revise

For KS4, Pearson Revise is a free resource available to all GCSE students. The platform provides revision tools for all KS4 subjects, creating the opportunities for pupils to work independently to prepare for their exams. Key features include clear summaries of key topics, practice questions & model answers for students to develop their exam skills.
